Thompson Plant Hire continues to grow the Biomass Production side of the business with the purchase of a new DAF XF 105 truck, the flagship of the DAF range, and winner of the International Truck of the Year award in 2007.

“The ability to get our Morbark 4600XL Track Wood Hog, where it is needed is crucial and the new DAF gives us the added capability of having a 6 x 4 double drive.” explains Simon “Most trucks only have a single axel but the DAF XF 105 has two making it more robust which is essential when it comes to getting the Morbark on site, think of it like four wheel drive for a truck. A lot of the time we are working deep in forests, and with the sheer weight of the Morbark we need all the traction we can get.”

The DAF XF 105 manages to combine low operating costs, reliability with great driver appreciation, having the most spacious cab in its class. Its MX engine complies with Euro 5 emissions standard, which reduces its environmental impact, and is the third truck in the Thompsons fleet to meet that standard.
